When: March 10th, from 1h30-3h30pm (2nd day of our 2-day CEP event)
Dynamic: Round table discussion with various interventions from the guest panelists (professors) and the students.
Topic: Data confidentiality and ethical dilemmas in research: reinforcing the integrity of researchers and their sources.
Description: In Quebec, the research ethics board is responsible for ensuring the protection of research subjects and the evaluation of research projects through ethics protocols as well as maintaining ethics authority. But recently two events brought doubt to the integrity of researchers and their sources: the Marie-Ève Maillé (PhD student at UQAM) and Patrick Lagacé (journalist) cases. During the round table, different voices will be able to give their experienced opinion on a few questions regarding the importance of ethics and the ethics board, freedom of speech, roles of researchers and much more.
